TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu said he is thinking about setting up an Islamic bank for giving interest-free loans to poor Muslims and bringing out a sub-plan for the community with a corpus of Rs 2,500 crore.
These measures are essential for alleviating the plight of Muslims who continue to languish in extreme poverty even after the Sachar Committee and Ranganath Misra Commission recommended that concrete steps be taken to save them from the fangs of poverty, he observed.
The living conditions of Muslims were found to be worse than that of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes but nothing significant came from the governments except empty rhetoric.
The TDP will give 15 seats to minority communities in the Legislative Council and Assembly with due representation to the Noor Basha (‘Dudekula’) sect.
Speaking at the ‘Noor Basha Simhagarjana’ at Arundelpet here on Wednesday, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the Congress party is largely responsible for the socio-economic backwardness of Muslims whom it treated as a vote bank.
It is habituated to talking a lot and doing little for welfare of the Muslims, particularly those belonging to the Dudekula sect.
This community has a population of nearly 50 lakh in the State but had been deprived of their due share in jobs, education and in the political arena.
The TDP would do justice to them and it has no dearth of committed leaders from the community.
It would provide education from K.G to P.G free of cost to Muslim children and youth, get repairs done to mosques and marriage halls, set up English medium schools for Muslim children while giving equal importance to Urdu and Arabic and do other things needed for the uplift of the minority community.
