In solidarity with Alighar Muslim University (AMU) students, today, AMU Alumni Association of Maharashtra organised a press conference in which they blamed the Yogi government and RSS for this incident.

Tanveer Alam, President AMU Alumni Association of Maharashtra said that, "Whatever happened in AMU was planned. RSS and Yogi Adityanath are responsible for it. Goons belonging to right-wing ideology of Hindu Vahini forcibly entered waiving the weapons in AMU campus during visit of ex-Vice President Hamid Ansari."

Tanveer Alam feels that issue of Jinnah's portrait was not a real issue. Protesters wanted to target Hamid Ansari who was the guest of honour of that function and his talked was arranged by University.

"In past also he had expressed his views about how minority communities are facing problems under new government. If he would have spoken from AMU whole world could have gotten to know the reality thus to stop him, those goons did that."

Tanveer also crictised UP Police for not taking action against those goons which entered in campus with weapons. Instead police lathicharged on protesting students.

Fahad Ahemad who is also Alumnae of AMU said, "Police showed their biased nature. When the whole incident happened, they didn't take action against 20 to 30 goons who entered campus, but they did lathicharge on protesting students."

Fahad who is general secretary of TISS Student Organisations (Mumbai) said, "We are ready to remove photographs of every person who has divided India or planned to divide India. Then government should also remove photographs of Savarkar who first came up with theory of 'Two States' which later Jinnah followed."

AMU Alumni Association of Maharashtra will take all necessary steps to keep and maintain peace in the state universities. They are also planning to seek legal help to support AMU students who were beaten up by UP Police.
